Patenting in the field of Software and IoT / artificial intelligence is the topic of the seminar that our European patent attorney Giuseppe Romano is to hold on 15 November for 2021 for docents and researchers of the University of Padua.

The seminar will start with a quick overview of the principles underlying the protection of software rights under copyright and design law, and then focus on patent protection.

Artificial intelligence will also be addressed as innovation that can be traced back to software in a broad sense; definitions and examples will be given in order to frame relevant features for the purposes of patent protection. A brief outline of the issue of inventorship in patents for inventions developed using artificial intelligence systems will conclude the event.
