Patenting in life sciences: seminar at the Scuola Superiore S. Anna of Pisa
Società Italiana Brevetti is holding a seminar at the Scuola Superiore S. Anna of Pisa on 4 May 2018 about patenting life science inventions.
Patent attorney Simona Pietri will open the seminar by introducing the basic principles underlying intellectual property rights.
In the second part of the seminar the speaker will be Valentina Predazzi, a European Patent Attorney and biotechnology expert with 10 years’ experience as a researcher in life sciences.
Valentina will expand on patents in the area of biotechnology and focus on the differences between the European and US patent systems, pointing out in particular what is patentable in Europe and in the United States (biomarkers, diagnostics, second medical use, sequences etc.). Valentina will also take a look at CRISPR patents in Europe and the US.
At the end of the seminar, participants will take part in one-to-one meetings with our two patent attorneys.
