Barbara Besati, trademark attorney of SIB Società Italiana Brevetti, is to hold a lecture on pharmaceutical trademarks at the University of Pavia on 7 October 2016.

A general overview of trademark registrability requirements and different forms of registration will be followed by the analysis of aspects particularly relevant to the pharmaceutical sector, including the notions of strong and weak marks, the different criteria for assessing novelty of names in connection with trademark registration and with marketing authorisation and trademark lapse for lack of use.

The lesson is part of the G. Benzi masters degree in regulatory affairs to which SIB has been contributing regularly for several years. The masters program aims to train graduates from different backgrounds as specialists in regulatory sciences.
