Regulation (EU) 2023/2411 of the European parliament and of the Council of 18 October 2023 on the protection of geographical indications for craft and industrial products and amending Regulations (EU) 2017/1001 and (EU) 2019/1753 was published in the Official Journal of the European Union on 27 October 2023.

The new law will allow locally renowned non-food products such as lace, glass, jewellery and porcelain to be registered in the whole European Union (EU) as geographical indications; more details here.

Regulation EU 2023/2411 will enter into force on 16 November 2023 but will be applicable as of 1 December 2025.
