Romania ratifies Unified Patent Court Agreement, with effect as from 1 September 2024

Romania has ratified the Unified Patent Court Agreement: as from 1 September 2024, it will become the 18th state in which unitary patents are available.

 The deposit of Romania’s instrument of ratification of Unified Patent Court Agreement was made on 31 May 2024, making Romania the 18th Member State to ratify the Agreement. According to Article 89(2) UPCA, the Agreement will enter into force in Romania on 1 September 2024; on the same date, Romania will become the 18th state in which the unitary patent is available.Romania ratifies Unified Patent Court Agreement

24 EU member states have signed the UPC Agreement, with six now waiting to complete the ratification process.
